In honor of Wentworth Miller's 45th Birthday...

Hello Everyone,

First, I want to start this post by thanking Emma (@drsarascofield) for the support.

Secondly, I’d like to take a moment to explain why this campaign is being started:

WENTWORTH MILLER, Born in the United Kingdom, raised in Brooklyn, New York, and a graduate of Princeton University, is an actor, producer and screenwriter whose credits span both television and feature film.

Perhaps best known for playing "Michael Scofield" on Fox’s hit series PRISON BREAK from 2005 to 2009, Wentworth received a Golden Globe nomination for "Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama" in 2006. PRISON BREAK is currently back on TV every tuesday on FOX airing a new season.

Wentworth's first original screenplay, STOKER, was produced by Fox Searchlight Pictures and Scott Free Productions and premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. STOKER was directed by Chan-wook Park and starred Nicole Kidman, Mia Wasikowska, and Matthew Goode. Wentworth also currently appears as "Leonard Snart/Captain Cold" on the CW's THE FLASH and LEGENDS OF TOMORROW.

NOW he's the Ambassador for Active Minds, an organization fully created in 2003 by Alison Malmon (read the full story here) to prevent and help people with Mental Illnesses.

This is what he said:
"As someone who knows what it’s like to struggle with depression, I want to help give voice to the many people living with mental health issues. I want to help assure them that they’re not alone.
These issues can be hard to discuss. It can be hard to start the conversation. So letting people know that it’s okay to ask for help is extremely important.
I’m really proud to be part of the Active Minds’ movement for change, especially because college was a difficult time for me. This organization does so much for students, and that kind of work is close to my heart.”
He is helping to combat the stigma faced by those struggling with issues surrounding mental health and is a passionate advocate for suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

But: What is Mental Illness? It's psychological and behavioral patterns that are associated with emotional suffering or disability (i.e. impaired functioning), loss of freedom (i.e. incarceration from criminal offenses), and increased mortality. These conditions are considered to arise from a biological, behavioral, or psychological dysfunction within the individual.

This emotional suffering or disability sometimes ended with death, with the United States having 1,100 college students die by suicide each year as a result.

That's why, now that he is turning 45 years old on June 2nd 2017, I thought we can make him the most wonderfull gift: Helping others!

I contacted the Active Minds Staff, and they wrote me back with a: "What a great idea!".
So this is the thing and it's so easy:

You can go HERE and donate whatever you can to the Active Minds Organization, to support and help the them and therefore help others with Mental Health problems.

You can go to www.activeminds.org to learn more about the organization.
